Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed across the southwest deserts, including the deserts northeast of Yuma, during the morning hours on September 23rd. The stronger storms generated very heavy rain with peak rain rates well in excess of one inch per hour. The heavy rain resulted in an episode of flash flooding that occurred northeast of Yuma and along Highway 95.
