Strong northerly winds produced high waves which combined with high lake levels produced lake shore flooding. In Lake County, Lakefront Park in Whiting was flooded. The cold temperatures allowed freezing spray from the high waves to coat many benches, trees and poles near the shore in several inches of ice.
