Several rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall occurred as two storm systems tracked northeastward from west Texas into the mid-Mississippi Valley. The repeated rounds of rainfall eventually led to flooding of low water crossings, creeks and a few of the larger rivers. Rainfall accumulations for the event ranged from around an inch over south central Missouri to over three inches near the Missouri-Kansas border near Joplin and Nevada.
