Tropical moisture continued to advect into South Florida while a disturbance aloft moved northward from a broad trough over the Gulf, Yucatan, and western Caribbean. As this disturbance moved northward, a weak surface low formed across the eastern Gulf of Mexico. This diffluent pattern allowed for showers and storms to develop. Due to PWATs in the 2 to 2.4 inch rain, heavy rainfall was expected, and occurred, with flooding across portions of eastern Miami-Dade County.
