A surface low pressure system lifted from the middle Mississippi Valley into western Ohio on the 1st. This pushed a warm front through the middle Ohio River Valley, kicking off strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. A series of slow moving, training storms produced several inches of rain and created an isolated flash flood near Gallipolis.
