Veering southerly flow ahead of an approaching cold front helped to advect a rich plume of low-level moisture across South Florida. As showers and thunderstorms associated with the front pushed through the area and stalled, this translated into heavy rainfall and flooding across east coast metro. Also, lightning strikes from one storm struck and damaged the Broward Water Treatment Plant.
