Showers and thunderstorms expanded in coverage during the early morning hours of July 1st as a slow moving cold front moved into the Central Appalachians. These storms produced heavy downpours with flash flooding occurring as a result. A nearby weather station along the Ohio River recorded over 2.6 inches had fallen during the overnight period of June 30th into July 1st.
