A weak upper trough axis remained nearly stationary across East Texas, North Louisiana, and Southern Arkansas during the day on August 18th, with a weak surface trough stationary over these areas as well. These features focused the development of a cluster of showers and thunderstorms over portions of East Texas prior to and after daybreak, which moved very little throughout the morning.
