Slow-moving thunderstorms trained over Rensselaer County during the afternoon of the 14th, resulting in a bullseye of 2-5 of rainfall over two to three hours over central and southern portions of the county. The runoff from the rainfall washed out or destroyed numerous roads and bridges, some of which would take weeks to months to reconstruct.
