Near to slightly above normal moisture levels and daytime heating led to the development of isolated thunderstorms mostly along terrain features during the afternoon on the 27th. Relatively weak southeasterly steering flow associated with the monsoon high allowed for efficient rain-producing thunderstorms to reside over a location for a longer period of time, leading to locally heavy rainfall amounts.
