Daytime heating combined with abundant moisture allowed for isolated convection to develop over favored terrain features in southern Gila County during the afternoon and evening on the 1st. Thunderstorms were capable of producing locally heavy rainfall, which ended up resulting in one instance of flash flooding. A USGS stream gage along Cibecue Creek recorded a rapid rise of 4 feet in less than 15 minutes. No damage or injuries were reported.
