Scattered thunderstorms erupted along a stalled frontal boundary over the central South Plains of west Texas during the afternoon hours of the 27th. Many of these storms, initially supercells, produced large hail and damaging winds. The activity gradually evolved into a linear complex of storms that propagated southeastward along with the frontal boundary during the late evening.
