An ice jam developed on the Saint John River...in the vicinity of Dickey...during the evening of the 12th. Rising river levels led to flooding and the closure of a portion of Route 161...near the Allagash and Saint Francis town line. The road closure was brief.

An ice jam developed in the vicinity of Donnelly Island and Donnelly Brook...on the Aroostook River...during the early morning hours of the 10th. Minor flooding developed upriver from the jam which impacted Gardner Creek Road.

Thunderstorms developed in advance of a cold front crossing the region during the afternoon of the 7th. Slow moving and training thunderstorms across the higher terrain of Baxter State Park produced heavy rain which led to localized flash flooding.

Hurricane Sandy merged with a strong upper level trough approaching from the west just off the mid Atlantic coast. The resultant cut-off low caused Sandy to retrograde towards the southern New Jersey coast during the evening of October 29th as it rapidly intensified to 940 mb.
