Flash Flood — May 13, 2025

An area of low pressure formed across a warm front along the Virginia/North Carolina border on May 13. Scattered storms formed across the Piedmont during the late afternoon and evening in a moist air mass. These storms produced locally heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding.

Flash Flood — Jul 9, 2025

A short wave trough aloft approached the Mid-Atlantic from the west on July 9. Strong thunderstorms formed during the afternoon and evening with gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

Flood — Nov 12, 2020

Deep tropical moisture streaming northward into the Mid Atlantic region combined with the approach of a cold front and low pressure, produced heavy rain which caused flooding across portions of central and southeast Virginia.

Flood — May 18, 2018

Showers and thunderstorms associated with areas of low pressure along a frontal boundary produced heavy rain which caused lingering flooding across portions of central, south central, and eastern Virginia.

Flash Flood — Sep 17, 2018

Scattered showers and thunderstorms associated with tropical cyclone Florence produced heavy rain which caused flash flooding across portions of central Virginia.
