The air flow over Arizona slowly transitioned from a west to east trajectory, to more southerly. This was due to a nearly stationary low forming off the western coast of California, which will provided some dynamical forcing. This allowed moisture to move northward from Mexico.

Thunderstorms produced heavy rain in the late evening in Tucson. Some areas received .75 to 1.5 inches of precipitation in 20 minutes. At 1015 pm MST, Pima County dispatch reported multiple cars stalled in the underpass at Stone Ave. due to the six feet of water.
