On the afternoon of June 29th, strong to severe thunderstorms quickly developed during peak heating hours with the help of a nearby cold front and unseasonably hot temperatures across northeast Kentucky. Strong wind gusts accompanying these storms caused several areas of downed trees and power lines in Greenup and Boyd Counties.
