Flood — Gibson, IN

Major flooding of the Patoka River occurred. Many roads were closed in the vicinity of the river, including State Route 64 between Oakland City and the Arthur area. In Gibson County, a levee was breached near Lyle Station, prompting some evacuations. At Princeton, where flood stage is 18 feet, the river crested at 22.60 feet on the 11th. This was still lower than the crest of 23.13 feet in May of 2002. The flooding was partially the result of a record-setting snowstorm on December 22. Around 20
