The Wabash River remained above flood stage at New Harmony from late April through May 26. The river crested there at 20.9 feet on May 7, which is 5.9 feet above flood stage. Some families were displaced by the flooding. The damage amount listed above is for all flooding that took place in Gibson and Posey Counties, not just the river flooding.
