Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developed underneath an upper trough axis across Middle Tennessee during the afternoon hours on October 1. Some of thunderstorms repeatedly developed across southern Williamson and northern Maury Counties throughout the afternoon, resulting in a localized area of very heavy rainfall up to 9 inches and flash flooding.
