A large cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms organized over southeast Illinois and then moved southeast across the lower Wabash Valley to the White River. The storms encountered increased southeasterly winds along a warm front draped from east central Illinois southward into far southwest IN. The enhanced inflow of very moist air into the storms aided heavy rain and flooding potential.
