A strong storm system moved out of the Plains into the Great Lakes on the 19th and 20th. Initially the precipitation started as a wintry mix, but accumulations were minor. Warmer air moved into the region through the night, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall into the afternoon of the 20th. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1 to 1.5 inches. This rain fell on already saturated soil and led to minor flooding.
