On the morning of the 27th, an isolated, but slow-moving, severe thunderstorm struck Western Butler County with half dollar and ping pong ball-sized hail. With the severe thunderstorm moving southeast at only 10 mph, the heavy rains it produced caused the Dry Creek to overflow.

Torrential rains caused significant rises on the Saline River. The river spilled out of its banks in and around Fairport, where water 2 to 4 feet deep inundated a small section of Fairport Road near the bridges. Sand bags were placed around one home.
