Showers and thunderstorms on the north side of an upper low moved westward across Western Kentucky during the evening hours of the 26th. These storms also began pulling in moisture from Hurricane Helene, resulting in heavy downpours which spurred minor flooding near Corydon.

A warm front over the lower Ohio Valley produced numerous training thunderstorms over north central Kentucky during the morning and early afternoon. A cold front brought more heavy rain to north central and east central Kentucky during the afternoon and evening.

Flash flooding destroyed a bridge. Eight mobile homes were evacuated. About a dozen vehicles were stalled. About 85 residents of a nursing home in Owensboro were evacuated as water crept inside.

Severe thunderstorms on the evening of April 16 produced wind damage, hail, and tornadoes. At Windy in Wayne County, a barn was damaged by thunderstorm winds, and a spotter south of Brodhead in Rockcastle County estimated wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph.
