After a 3 day reprieve from the precipitation, more rain with embedded thunderstorms, crossed eastern Ohio into northern West Virginia during the afternoon and evening hours on the 11th. Rain of 1.25 to 1.8 inches was measured. For example, Middlebourne measured 1.75 inches.

Thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening of the 17th produced hail up to dime size and resulted in flooding.Heavy thunderstorm rains caused numerous small streams and creeks to flood in southern Mercer County, with several roads washed out.

A moist and unstable environment existed ahead of a slow moving cold front. A weak surface wave developed along the front during predawn hours of Tuesday, the 8th. Widespread showers fell over wet terrain. Rain rates were not extreme, but in the .5 to .75 inch range per hour.
