First glacier dam outburst flood on the Mendenhall Lake/River system that produced significant flood took place on July 21 2011. The source of the flood waters was from Suicide Basin and side basin on the Mendenhall Glacier, about a mile up from the glacier terminus.

A Bering low pushed a strong front into the Southwest Coast between December 3rd and 4th, sending strong southerly winds gusting as high as 60 to 70 mph into the coast along with a minor storm surge up to a few feet above the normal high tide line.

Excessive snow melt caused flooding on the Kuparuk river at Kuparuk June 1st into June 2nd. The roads in Kuparuk were flooded with 18 inches of water at the height of the flooding, according to security personnel. The water level dropped on the afternoon of the 1st.

An ice jam formed 1/2 mile downstream from Buckland on the Buckland River during the afternoon of the 26th causing flooding in the village of Buckland beginning the morning of the 27th. Water levels dropped on the morning of the 29th below flood levels.
