Several thunderstorms over a period of 3 days lead to flash flooding in Cataract Canyon/Havasu Canyon. The flooding lasted several days and caused damage to a few homes in the Village of Supai. There was extensive damage to Havasu Canyon and the campground below the village.

The monsoon high broke down over Arizona late in August with a trough setting up over the southwest U.S. leading to southwest flow over the state. Tropical moisture was able to push up the Gulf of California into Arizona under this setup.
