The Ohio River crested above flood stage, as a result of heavy rain across the upper Ohio Valley. The crest at Ashland was 55.45 feet during the evening of the 9th. Flood stage is 52 feet. That's the highest stage since the flood of March 1997 reached 60.8 feet.

Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley were allowed to rise four feet above pool stage. Releases from the dams were curtailed in order to relieve flooding on the lower Ohio River. The unusually high lake stages inundated several shoreline facilities, such as boat ramp and parking areas.
